Collection: MERZMENSCH: Where algorithms become reality

Vladimir Alexeev, alias Merzmensch , is one of the leading voices of a new artistic movement: collaborative creation between humans and machines. As one of the early pioneers of AI-based art, he explored the creative potential of artificial intelligence long before the public hype—not as a mere tool, but as an equal partner in a poetic-philosophical dialogue.

His diverse work includes poems, visual compositions, experimental music, and digital imagery. Three series stand out in particular:

NeoreAIlism – a playful yet critical exploration of the documentary image, staging AI-generated photographs as an echo of a possible past.
MERZmory – a series of artificial memory fragments that appear like digitally weathered relics of a collective psyche.
HalluciNation – surreal visions of an AI that dreams: of bodies, identities, places – and its own consciousness.

Inspired by Vilém Flusser, Kurt Schwitters and the Dadaist tradition, Merzmensch combines technological precision with profound reflection on reality, authenticity and the fragile boundary between human and machine.

His works have been internationally acclaimed and are considered crucial for understanding an art that draws from the depths of neural networks—and constantly poses questions: What remains of the subject? What does memory mean in the digital age? And: Can a machine dream?

Merzmensch consciously positions himself outside of traditional institutions. His stage is the internet – a boundless space of experimentation, freedom, and the future. Here, new narratives emerge; here, he writes the next story with his art.
