A train station that was never built.

An arrival that never happened.

In Diffused: The Lost Train Station, Merzmensch unfolds a dream image of infrastructure—an imagined architecture of movement, frozen in time and meaning. The empty platform, the shadowed concourse, the background light that sheds no light on anything—all of this seems like a collective déjà vu from a memory that is not ours.

As is often the case in the MERZmory project, these works emerge in the space between machine learning and human melancholy. The AI ​​"remembers" train stations from millions of images – but what emerges is not a reconstruction, but a visual poem about loss, promise, and localization.

What does a place where no one ever arrived mean?
What remains of a journey that never began?

This empty station is a thought image – about our longing to find a sense of belonging, about the vague feeling of having missed something, and about the strange trust in places that do not exist.
