Wuh.ey – “Mwanga wa Wafu”

Mwanga wa Wafu – "The Light of the Dead" – glows in bright colors between life and the afterlife. The figure wears fruit over her eyes, as if she wanted to see the world through the symbol of harvest and transience. Behind her: a skull, a coffin, and machetes – symbols of finiteness, but also of protection and power.

The composition cites the iconographic richness of Afro-Caribbean and Latin American votive images, fused with digital hyperrealism. The background, garish and ornamental, is reminiscent of embroidery made from ritual fabrics—a dance of death in neon.

Wuh.ey makes death colorful, dignified, and loud. In his vision, death loses its darkness and becomes a celebration—a rebirth in color, a digital requiem full of life.
