Merzmensch – MemoryFaces-06
"Do you remember her - or the idea of her?"
In MemoryFaces-06, a woman's face merges with the texture of an alien, almost fragile landscape. Cracks, reflections, glints of light—nothing is stable; everything seems like a frozen echo of memory. The MERZmory series explores the reconstruction and decomposition of memory images in a world of artificial reproduction.
What begins as a classic portrait becomes a mirage upon closer inspection. The person is half visible, half dissolved in the digital fabric of an algorithmic surface. Is it a real face or a fragment from an old dream? The question deliberately remains unanswered – for this is precisely where the power of the image lies: in the limbo between truth and imagination.
MemoryFaces-06 evokes what we all know – the fading image of a loved one, overlaid with everything that never was and yet was felt.
