Merzmensch – Secret Society
Welcome to the ceremony. You weren't invited—but you're already here.
In "Secret Society," Merzmensch stages a surrealist fever dream shrouded in ceremonial precision. A single masked figure sits serenely in the foreground, dressed in dusty pink and flanked by an assembly of identical, faceless figures. Their robes, embroidered and decorated with spheres, evoke a blend of plague doctor, medieval mystic, and speculative science fiction.
The composition is precise, the mood unsettling. Every surface is laden with symbolism: time, secrecy, ritual, observation. The figures' empty faces resemble clockwork eyes or surveillance lenses. Who is watching whom?
Like all works in the HalluciNation series, this one is not a depiction of the world as it is, but as it is dreamed. A hallucinatory fiction constructed from fragments of history, paranoia, and baroque fantasy.
For collectors of the uncanny, the sacred and the speculative.
