Merzmensch – Diffused—Body of Knowledge
A solitary figure reads silently—protected, perhaps, but not untouched. Behind her rises a monumental, semi-organic structure: part tower, part ruin, part honeycomb of information. The atmosphere is dense, charged with fading data and hovering surveillance systems. Knowledge here is not solid ground, but a shifting terrain.
Diffused—Body-of-Knowledge is part of Merzmensch's MERZmory series—a visual exploration of fragmented memory, mediated reality, and inner thought architectures. The figure, engrossed in reading, becomes a metaphor for our current situation: surrounded by collapsing information structures, still searching for coherence.
As in many of Merzmensch's works, there may be biographical allusions here, but they remain discreet. The image resonates with personal reflection without becoming confessional. As the artist once remarked:
“I do not create from memory – I create memory itself.”
