Clint Enns – Twins # I
Two bare backs, almost identical, side by side. Two young men in jeans, like reflections without glass. A narrow gap opens between them, from which two more faces emerge: an older man, a woman. Four pairs of eyes scrutinizing us as we fixate on the symmetry of their bodies.
"Twins #1" plays with the illusion of vision. What appears to be a double image reveals itself to be an ensemble. Proximity and distance, intimacy and strangeness, repetition and rupture overlap. It's a tableau of family ties, but also a parable about identity: Where does the self end and the other begin?
Enns shows that the familiar can become uncanny as soon as it doubles. The twins are not only a mirror, but also a crack. A picture like a puzzle – cool, controlled, yet full of latent tension.
